Is there a public swimming pool in Vejer for the summer?

No, there is a municipal swimming pool with a covered roof where swimming takes place, but there is no summer swimming pool.
Despite the high temperatures and having to drive to reach the nearest beach, Vejer de la Frontera does not have a public swimming pool in summer. If you are not yet familiar with the area, you can check where Vejer de la Frontera is located before planning your journeys.
Only some residential developments and private villas have swimming pools. In previous years, they offered rental tickets for access, although this has gradually become less common.

What can you do to avoid the heat in Vejer?
The only option is to go to the beach, whether that means El Palmar or Barbate or Conil, which are the closest places. Several buses travel to the beach every day.
Although it is the most awkward option because of having to take chairs or parasols on the bus, it is the most practical choice. The good thing is that you may meet people at the beach who travel at the same time and might be able to share a car. Why is there no summer swimming pool in Vejer?
Other towns in the province of Cádiz, such as El Bosque, and cities such as Jerez de la Frontera, already have public summer swimming pools for two main reasons: high temperatures and no beach.
Nowadays, it is difficult to understand why people from Vejer cannot enjoy a day at the swimming pool to escape the heat and are forced to take a car or a bus to cool off.
The reason is unknown, perhaps because of the nearby beaches or a lack of infrastructure, but it still seems rather unfair, especially considering that whenever a residential development has sold passes for its private swimming pool, they have all sold out.
